CCP Global History
CCP Global was formed in 2001 by major central counterparty organizations in Europe, Asia and the Americas to share CCP related information and to develop analyses and policy standards for common areas of concern.
In 2008, CCP Global held its Annual Meeting in Tokyo and endorsed the collaboration by forming an Executive Committee to govern the global agenda.
Later in 2015, the CCP Global General Assembly decided to register CCP Global as an official association in Shanghai, China where the first official CCP Global office was opened in 2017.
In 2022 the Executive Committee of CCP Global announced the opening of the second CCP Global Office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
In 2023 during the Annual General Meeting in Bangkok, members approved a rebranding initiative, with the new association name being rebranded to CCP Global. The rebranding to CCP Global signifies the association's enduring commitment to advancing collaboration and innovation among central counterparties on a global scale.

CCP12 was formed in 2001 by 12 CCPs in Europe, Asia and the Americas to share CCP related information, best practices and to develop analyses and policy standards for common areas of concern amongst the financial industry.

The CCP12 Tokyo Conference further endorsed collaboration and reaffirmed the critical role that CCPs continue to play in effectively managing and minimising systemic risk within the global financial markets, especially at times of market crisis, and their significant role in jointly supporting crossborder investment. The CCP12 agreed to form an executive committee to govern the global agenda. The Executive Committee consists of one representative from each of the CCP12 member CCPs.

It was agreed at in the CCP12 AGM in Singapore to the register CCP12 as a non-profit organization in Shanghai, China and then make preparations to open the first official CCP12 office.

The CCP12 Founding Conference successfully held in Shanghai with Mr. TU Guangshao (Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai), Mr PAN Gongsheng (Deputy Governor, People’s Bank of China), Mr WANG Hongzhang (Chairman, Board of Directors, CCB), Mr. Timothy Massad (Chairman, CFTC), Mr. Lee Betsill (CCP12 Chairman, CRO, CME Clearing). The CCP Summit Forum held on the same day, provided a valuable opportunity for participants to communicate with each other and strengthen international communication and cooperation.

The CCP12 opening ceremony of the Shanghai office was successfully held. Mr PAN Gongsheng (Deputy Governor, People’s Bank of China), Mr. Lee Betsill (CCP12 Chairman, CRO, CME Clearing), Robert T. Cox (Vice President, Financial Markets Group, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago), Ms. HUANG Ru (Deputy Director – General Bureau or Management of Social Organizations, Ministry of Civil affairs), Mr YU Beihua (Deputy Secretary – General of the Shanghai Municipal Government) took part in the event.

The successful opening of the CCP12 entity in Amsterdam took place and was registered as a Dutch non-profit registered association. The Amsterdam office serves as the European hub for its endeavours and further reinforces the global presence and footprint of the association for the members that it serves.

In 2023 during AGM in Bangkok, members approved a rebranding initiative, with the new association name being CCP Global. The full official name will remain ‘The Global Association of Central Counterparties’. CCP12 reflected an early core group of twelve CCPs who established the association in 2001. The rebranding to CCP Global signifies the association's enduring commitment to advancing collaboration and innovation among central counterparties on a global scale.
